This notice was sent to you because you removed a league from your Platinum or Diamond membership. When you remove a league from your membership it places a Gold membership on that league until the end of that day in case the removal was accidental or in case someone was tampering with your account. By putting the Gold there it serves two purposes; first and foremost, it immediately notifies you. Secondly, it protects the account from purging if the removal was accidental and allows you some time to add it back to your membership.

Your Platinum or Diamond membership itself is not affected by these notices.

This is why you ended up with Gold and why you then received a Gold expiration notice. This actually has nothing to do with old or new design on the site!
