Since the inception of the tournament system there have never been Subs allowed in tournaments. The reason is that what ever happens in the tournament affects the player that signs up for the tournament, not the sub.
If the tournament is a Ladderstats tournament the player who is signed up is the one that will get credited with the games played. If a sub loses the game the player who was signed up would be credited with the loss, even though the sub was the one that lost the game. If the player who subbed won the game the player who signed up and didn't even play would be credited with a win they didn't earn. There is no way to remove a player who started the tournament and change it so the sub gets the credit for the games.
Even when the tournament is a NON-Ladderstats tournament the player who signed up is still the player who is affected. The games may not have an overall affect on the ladder ranks, but they will have on the player's tournament stats which is a part of their player records. Once again, if the sub loses the signed up player gets credited with a loss they never played, or if the sub wins they signed up player gets credited with a win they didn't earn.
Finally, Ladderbux..... If a signed up player has a sub and the sub maked it to the ladderbux area, or if it is a swiss where a player gets bux per win, the sub would not get the ladderbux for a win. The signed up player would be getting ladderbux for games they did not play and getting ladderbux they didn't earn. That could be considered ladderbux fraud.
