Hi all,
The Department of Homeland Security, via the National Infrastructure Protection Center, has issued a warning of a serious computer vulnerability in Microsoft Windows computers.
SYSTEMS AFFECTED: Computers using the following operating systems:
The Federal Government has detected increased scanning for computers with this vulnerability and predicts that hackers are developing tools to take over millions of computers. In the past several hours, exploits that take advantage of this security problem are being passed around the Internet.
The Department of Homeland Security and Microsoft recommend IMMEDIATE updating of your computer's software if it is vulnerable. You can follow the link below to Microsoft's site where you can download the update.
DHS and Microsoft further suggest that Internet Service Providers and network administrators consider blocking TCP and UDP ports 135, 139, and 445 for inbound connections unless absolutely needed for business or operational purposes.
Please do your part in keeping your up to date to prevent possible widespread Internet outages.
